The world’s first and only gallery-sized graphic novel is here! Created entirely in Nashville, TN, Th3 Anomaly features 321 paintings in over 2,000 square feet of immersive, family-friendly atmosphere.
In 2011 abrasiveMedia opened its residency program to an ambitious proposal by Nashville artist David Landry. The idea was to blend fine art with comic book style narrative to create a graphic novel you could walk through. abrasiveMedia helps artists make big ideas happen, so the partnership was a perfect fit.
A story was written, dozens of costumes and props were created, seventeen models portrayed characters in over 5,000 reference photographs, and a lot of paint was purchased. More than 8,000 hours have gone into making the world of Th3 Anomaly, and now, four years after this journey began, we’re opening it to the public!
The opening gala event will feature themed drinks and hors-d’oeuvres, live character models, behind-the-scenes exhibits, and interactive experiences centered around the adventures of Nikola Tesla, Sarah Bernhardt, Jules Verne, and other characters from the story. A 124-page printed graphic novel and an ebook version of Th3 Anomaly will also be available for purchase.
The opening exhibit was held Saturday, January 30, 2016 (6-9pm) at:
